THE COLOR OF PROSPERITY is BLACK

The following excerpted from Black on Black Communications

Kelvin Boston, host of the "The Color of Money," a money management television show for
African Americans shown on BET has written a book. "Smart Money Moves for African
Americans", emphasizes time tested axioms for wealth acumulation including: avoidance of
personal debt, investing in equities (stocks), property ownership, and the importance of budgeting.
Boston makes the case for African Americans to invest in stocks, noting that over the past 20
years on investment has come close to outperforming the stock market; not gold, bonds, CD's, or
collectibles. (According to Boston, white households hold more than $3,000 in stocks, while blacks
hold a little more than $100.) He urges those within the ranks of corporate entrepreneurial
enterprises, or at the very least equity ownership. Finally in a philosophical vein, he addresses "the
African American cultural demonization of wealth." Published by G.P. Putnam & Sons, the book
should be available in bookstores after the first of the year.
