Here is the quick and dirty summary of steps from our experience:

• Step 1: Set up a merchant account with a bank that accepts Cybercash. Ask about the setup fee and minimum monthly charge. Note: If you don't accept credit cards yet, this may be a good way to start - it is cheaper than renting the physical processor and you can run phone orders through your own cybercash interface.

• Step 2: Find a web server to host your site that supports Cybercash. You should not have to install any software yourself; the server should have it installed already. In some cases you will need to write a perl script to handle payment, in other cases the script will be in place and you need only design a payment form. Internet WorkShop supports Cybercash on our web server, and we have an automated payment script in place.

• Step 3: Fill out the Cybercash Service Agreement & Merchant Registration Form. You should enter the e-mail address of the administrator on your web server, as they will need to receive certain information from Cybercash.

• Step 4: Wait while your web server administrator runs several tests and requests to have your site become "live". You may want to test your own payment forms during this time, using fake credit card numbers.

• Step 5: Now you are ready to take orders! Set up your payment forms, preferably on a secure server, market your site, and watch your e-mail for orders to fulfull! You may want to send yourself a test order with a real credit card number and verify that the money is transferred to your account. You can also use your own payment forms to enter phone orders from customers.
